FAM10 equipment consists of the mobile part of the RRS (Railway Radio System), which is intended for duplex and simplex voice communication of the engine driver with the traffic controller, station master or other participants. In addition to voice communication, the equipment enables transmission of identification, selective communication with the chosen participant and two-way transmission of routine reporting.

Description FAM10 - analog radio
Duplex communication takes place on the internationally coordinated bandwidth foursome A, B, C, D in the 450MHz bandwidth in accordance with UIC 751-3. The equipment ensures basic compatibility with other systems. The foursome consists of frequencies marked A,B,C and D, whereas A, B, C are frequencies of radio base stations and D is the frequency of the traction vehicle transmitter. Simplex communication is possible in the frequency bands of 450MHz or 160MHz. FAM10 consists of three functional blocks that can be variously arranged spatially in accordance with requirements during building in to traction vehicles:
FAB10 radio block
FAB15 controlling and logic block
FCB25 Control box
FAM10 functionality can be further expanded by communication in the GSM-R network through the FRB20 radio block of the FXM20 set. In this case the FCB25 control box controls communication in both systems - RRS and GSM-R.
FAM10 within the scope of analog network enables:
Duplex voice communication between traffic controller and engine driver, transmission of routine information, general selection and emergency calling
Duplex voice communication between the station dispatcher and the engine driver, transmission of routine information, general selection and emergency calling
Semi duplex voice communication between the engine driver with re-translation in range of one radio base station and with the possibility of transmission of emergency calling
Simplex voice communication between the engine driver and other parties on a pre-selected channel
